One of the first things that drew Matt & Erika together was that they were both from rural areas (3,000 miles apart), had the sensibilities that came from living in a small town, but had big city ambitions. They met at a Portland (Oregon) fashion show and were immediately connected. Over the years they built a life together in Portland – fur babies, careers, and a house. When they started planning their wedding it became clear that bringing Matt’s GIANT family to Oregon from the east coast just wasn’t practical. On the other hand Erika’s family is small (small, but mighty as she calls it) and was easily flown to a B&B owned by Matt’s uncle and Boston caterer, Dan Mathieu of Max Ultimate Food. The property is split between NY and Mass and is a dream come true! The whole family pitched in to DIY most of the wedding details including flowers, invitations, and the ceremony space. Uncle Dan brought in some of his own staff and other local vendors to coordinate the reception. Erika has always loved and had horses. As a little girl she dreamed of riding a horse to the aisle on her wedding day. Matt and his family coordinated a surprise horse for Erika that she was completely unaware of until it was time for her to leave the guesthouse. She was a vision! The two exchanged the sweetest vows under a giant oak tree on the west side of the property and danced the night away in a finished barn down the hill.
